Ekspansi Bandara Internasional Ngurah Rai Denpasar (WADD)

The rapid development of South Bali has pushed the boundaries of public transportation such as airport to their limit capacity. In 2010, Bali government expand the airport to have bigger terminals, including new 65000 sqm international terminal. As the year past, hustle and bustle of the Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali is being pushed again to the limit of thr capacity, that it force the government to opt for developing a new airport to divide these dense air traffics. The new airport was planed to be in Northern Bali in 2013. the intented result should be to accelerate the Bali development as a whole, not just its southern region. But when the demands of air transportation continued to rise, then it gives very limited choice of solution whether to built another big international airport, or to find a new concept of the expansion of the prior airport. The
first question is how to accomodate bigger flow of airplanes quantity by serving more parking, and more runways to land. Thus this extension future concept of Ngurah Rai International Airport would be adding another 4000m runway capable of take up like a double decker a380 or two smaller planes that could take-off linearly in a time. This new runway would be best to build off coast not by reclaiming island of sand, but rather creating platform of man made steel structure that could not obstruct waves that could tear up nearby Kuta beach and Jimbaran bay. These steel structures are implanted to the sea bed and then the coral reef could spring up between the rift of steel structure. After the runway expansion finished, the next expansion would be the third terminal in the south part of the airport perimeter. The size of the terminal is approximately equal to 40000 sqm and capable to handle both international (transit) and domestic flights.

Bali Future Smart Solar Power Plant

Bali to built the idea of smart offshore solar power plant to fulfill local electricity neccesity. The hundreds of hybrid reflectors equiped with thermal converter and the reflector layer itself to produce power from the sun. The 'LDR' detect sun path and light intensity, thus the reflectors act like plants which looking for sunlight. Capability of moving in certain angular directions makes these reflectors work very efficienly either to catch power or reflect sunlight to the center light-power harvester. The intention to build this power plant in offshore to get the ideal place where land couldn't offer. The such requirements of site size of 630.000sqm with gigantic pieces of mechanics, the no habitable zone buffer perimeter and the ease of moving the structure onto another water surface are all the reasoning of such an idea to be built upon the future era when clean energy are common and affordable to such region like Bali. If we assume the plant produce 1 MWpeak per are per day. The approximately total electricity that could be produced for a day is 6300 MWp or 6,3 GWp, this should be enough to light up entire Denpasar city area in one night. at last the electricity needs of Southern Bali could be fulfilled entirely. The plant could be added progressively on Bali inter island open water such as straits, bays, and lakes, and in the future the innovation could be endless with the possibilities of different concept of solar power. The power plant also act as weather control and monitoring, lighting catcher, and provide marine biodiversity beneath it. The solar power plant also only produce 'UV' radiation and no hazardous radiation such in nuclear or pollution in petrol based power plant. This is ultimately produce clean electricity same as the water based power plant (waterfall, wave, and geothermal/steam). The power output transmitted via above sea water cable pipes transmission and magnetic induction, all would be adjusted with the future technology to come.

The New Apple Gallery in Bali

I design the first spectacular apple gallery in the far east part of the earth. Inspired by the Apple campus in California, the cube design is mimicry of high efficiency design of the new mac pro that offer sophisticated inside hardware as well exclusivity from the outside. The Gallery consisting of apple store, sits on a very tiny footprint, this is an example of environment responsible application, where the building open only nearly eight meters in diameter. The rest of the building sunken into the ground where the hill shape landscape shaped by gallery space beneath it. The exterior is very non-destructive to the environment, means low profile. also it open possibility of large area of green space as hardscape only for parking. The connection between exterior and interior is by a continuous ramp from the entry to the gallery. Interior concept is designed as simple as possible to fit with apple tradition. With white glossy finish dominant, the interior feel very techy and futuristic. The Apple Gallery building is three stories in height, two sunken basement and one above the ground. The lowest level is for storage and the management office.

Bali International Marina Concept Proposal

BIM (Bali International Marina), is an reclaimed island from the island of Serangan and existing abandoned Serangan resort complex that support program of BST (Bali Sustainable Tourism). In first attempt, reason of this project is because the southern Bali rapid development force tourism to be centralized to avoid unhandled tourism facility development is necessary in the area. The project intention is to steer Bali future tourism development to more public and international way and it is not held by privates or capital companies. The claim of the island Serangan masterplan project is to turn the island into BIM. The core facilities is public facilities, such as, marina, international race track, international stadium, tourism city, mixed use development, mall, golf course, apartments, hotels, condos, offices and houses all in centralized integrated BIM.

In fact Bali is often compared to Singapore, UAE, which have insufficent natural resources and has international culture of tourism. The success of Singapore and UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai) has pushed Bali to rethink its tourism masterplan to a more realistic way. On the other hand, Bali has already has abundant resources of natural beauty, especialy in outside mid-southern area. Thus the mid-southern area should be rethink, and while other should be maintain as heritage.

The island of Serangan southern area is abandoned since the new order era, where the success of Nusa Dua resort complex has pushed and turn the island to another luxury resort complex. Since this land abandoned and become useless while in the mainland there are rapid developments that suck up all Denpasar green area, turning the city into dense and sporadically congested.

This is one of many other ways to achieve sustainable tourism, if not acted this way, the tourism market in the mid-southern Bali will be bubbled out.
